Who I am

Ria, a woman, is standing on the beach with two dogs, ocean waves in the background, smiling, wearing a yellow graphic t-shirt and high-waisted jeans.

I serve North Brooklyn and Lower Manhattan, from Fort Greene to Greenpoint to Union Square.

I am happy to travel beyond, please reach out separately for scheduling.

Training should be fun for both you and your dog, and I’m committed to making that happen every time we work together.

Ok, now you know about me, now learn about my doggos

Hi! I’m Ria Osborne (CTP-KPA). I am a dog trainer and behaviour consultant and I am fear-free certified.

I believe in focusing on what we want from our dogs, not just what we don’t. We ask our dogs to live in our world and follow our rules, but in doing so, we can sometimes forget their natural needs—like sniffing, digging, chewing (in the right context!), and even getting some alone time. I’m passionate about giving dogs the agency they deserve, helping them emotionally regulate, and equipping them to handle the stress of city life.

I split my time between working with private clients and at the NYCACC, where I serve as a foster outreach trainer. In this role, I support some of NYC’s more behaviorally challenged kiddos, helping them thrive in foster care and ultimately find their forever homes. I specialise in leash reactivity, defensive aggression, and resource guarding—helping the good boys and girls of NYC transition from shelter life to foster care and, eventually, a loving home.

As a Certified Training Partner with the Karen Pryor Academy, I specialise in clicker training—a science-backed method that fosters better communication between you and your dog. I believe in positive reinforcement and never use fear in my training. I want our dogs to always trust us.

My past life as a food photographer has nurtured an eye for detail and fostered the communication skills to teach humans how to teach their dogs.
